Field Site Immersion Program

The field site immersion program is a unique feature of the Pathogen COBRE providing the research project leaders with an interdisciplinary training experience and serves to broaden professional networks in the area of research as well as provides perspective of the scientific and complex socio-economic context in which these diseases occur.

Dr. Jha, who studies malaria, has completed the program in Kenya with the Kenya Medical Research Institute allowing him to evaluate drug susceptibility in freshly collected parasite specimens which dovetails with his existing research activities testing the efficacy of his novel small molecule anti-malarial.
